Meliá Varadero Hotel
In the northern part of Cuba, east of Havana you will find the holiday paradise Varadero. Melia is one of the best hotels on the island and is well placed on a long and beautiful beach, close to the small city centre.
This is not a place for the food junkie, as the all-inclusive food that is offered is of poor standard. If this is not an issue for you, the beach is very beautiful, the hotel rooms are clean and all Mojitos taste the way they should.

Tips
- Cash is king (this applies to all of Cuba) picking up a lot of money when landing at the airport is recommended, the internet is coming and going on the island, which means that banks do not always have contact and withdrawal from ATM's becomes impossible

VISA works fine at ATM's, Maestro Card at the bank, but leave your American Express at home

Depending on the food the rating should be lower, but thanks to the friendly people and the lovely surroundings I still want to give the hotel 3/5.
